Casa Loma Landslide Repair

In 2013, heavy storms triggered a landslide that caused partial roadway loss and exposure of a 4-foot diameter concrete water pipeline in Alta, CA. Blackburn Consulting completed a geotechnical investigation and mitigation plan to help the County repair damage caused by landslide.

Placer County needed Blackburn to quickly develop mitigation options before they experienced further loss of roadway and/or pipeline. Blackburn completed an initial review of the landslide and summarized geotechnical conditions and mitigation options. After discussion with Placer County, we performed more analysis to design an earth buttress to repair the landslide movement. Blackburn prepared grading plans and repair details and assisted the County in preparation of specifications and a cost estimate. Blackburn completed the investigation and repair design scope on a tight timeline and within the proposed budget.  Blackburn’s practical design allowed the project contractor to repair the slope under budget.
