DESCRIPTION

The Davis Surface Water Pipelines Project distributes surface water supplied by the Woodland Davis Clean Water Agency Regional Water Treatment Facility to the City of Davis through a pipeline connection at the northern city limits. The project consisted of over 35,000 lineal feet of new 12 to 30-inch diameter water pipeline constructed predominantly within existing roadways, including trenchless pipeline crossings at the I-80/UPRR tracks, Highway 113, the UPRR tracks at Covell Boulevard, and at a drainage canal crossing.

Within an aggressive schedule, Blackburn completed a subsurface investigation (27 exploratory borings), laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and preparation of a geotechnical report. Our report included recommendations for pipeline trench construction, stability, and backfill, recommendations for replacement pavement, and design and construction considerations for the proposed trenchless crossings. Blackburn also prepared a separate geotechnical report for the UC Davis transmission mains that connect to the city’s new pipelines.
