DESCRIPTION

The I Street Bridge Replacement project will construct a new bridge to span the Sacramento River between Sacramento and West Sacramento. This bridge will reduce future traffic congestion, improve operations and safety, serve multiple modes of transportation, and comply with current design standards.

Blackburn Consulting prepared a Caltrans-reviewed Phase I environmental site assessment for this high-profile project. In the report, Blackburn identified environmental conditions involving areas of historical development at the levees and access roads, the former Capitol plating facility, active and former service stations, and the historic Sacramento Railyards. Blackburn also identified potential contamination issues such as aerially deposited lead (ADL), asbestos containing material (ACM), and lead containing paint (LCP) within the project limits.

For the existing I Street Bridge, Blackburn also completed an ACM and LCP inspection.
